What We Do

What We Do
Chiropractic
Mind-Body Connection

The chiropractic approach considers the body as a whole and understands the importance of maintaining a healthy spine and nervous system to general health issues. Regular chiropractic care has been proven to increase the quality of life and is vital to maintaining optimum overall health.

Chiropractic was founded by Dr. Daniel David Palmer (D.D. Palmer). He was at that time a magnetic healer who was researching the relationship between the spine of the body and the nervous system. On September 18, 1895, Dr. Palmer gave the very first adjustment to Harvey Lillard, a partially deaf janitor in his office building. Unexpectedly, his hearing came back the next day, and this experience led Dr. Palmer to open a school of a hands-on, natural healing method. His friend Rev. Samuel Weed named it “Chiropractic”, combining two Greek words cheiros and praktikos (meaning “done by hand”).

Chiropractors detect and correct “subluxation” of the spine—a juxtapositional misalignment of a vertebral motion segment. Subluxation occurs as a consequence of joint positioning error and imbalances in muscle tone.

There are 3 major factors (3 T’s) that cause subluxation:

  1. Trauma—injuries, microtrauma, poor posture, repetitive stress, etc.
  2. Toxins—poor diet, malnutrition, alcohol, tobacco, chronic use of medications, recreational drugs, heavy metal toxicity, environmental pollutions, etc.
  3. Thoughts— social stress, family/relationship stress, job stress, financial stress, etc.

By addressing the 3 T’s and correcting the subluxation, your body’s biomechanics is restored, and normal flow of nerve impulse is achieved.

As a board-certified chiropractic neurologist, Dr. Ando’s main focus has always been Mind-Body Connection. Roman poet Juvenal once wrote in Latin “mens sana in corpore sano”, translated as “a sound mind in a sound body”. When your mind suffers, the body cries out. Our goal is to connect your mind and the body once again by removing an interference of the nervous system.

At Ando Chiropractic, we support self-healing, self-regulating ability of patients who suffer from a wide variety of symptoms:

Cold Laser Therapy
A New Branch of Medicine

Cold Laser Therapy (also known as Low Level Laser Therapy=LLLT or Photobiomodulation Therapy=PBM Therapy) is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to help accelerate the healing process. Because of the unique health effects on the human body, many scientists consider LLLT to be a “new branch of medicine”.

Like photosynthesis in plants, light in the red and near infrared spectrum causes intracellular photochemical changes in our body that lead to increase cellular energy and reduce oxidative stress. These effects have been tested in over 400 randomized controlled trials (RTC’s) and thousands of laboratory studies and published in many leading journals including The Lancet, BMJ, Nature, PNAS, Spine, Muscle and Nerve, Pain, Stroke, etc.

By carefully selecting the specific wavelengths, power and treatment time based on the patient’s conditions, clinicians can achieve the following effects:

  • Regenerate tissue
  • Reduction of inflammation
  • Reduction of edema (lymph drainage)
  • Reduction of pain (analgesia)

LLLT is used to treat the following conditions:*

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Sports injury (sprain and strain)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Plantar fasciitis (tendonitis)
  • Arthritis of joints
  • Lymphedema
  • Muscle fatigue
  • TMJ (jaw) pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

*Comanagement with appropriate conventional medical treatment is very important. The information we provide is not necessarily considered mainstream health care. We support overall health of people who suffer from the above listed conditions. The protocols we render, such as homeopathic and/or nutritional supplement, especially in serious cases, should not be used as replacements for conventional pharmacotherapy.

Many researches also support the benefits of LLLT to the following conditions:*

  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Stroke
  • Depression
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Diabetic foot

LLLT is also administered to the acupuncture pressure points (Laser Acupuncture).

Researches show administering laser (also LED) to long flat bones, such as sternum or shin bone, increases circulation of mesenchymal stem cells throughout the body. Therefore, LLLT is now used in the regenerative medicine.

LLLT is also widely used in the veterinary medicine. Dogs, cats or even horses suffering from herniated disc, arthritis, periodontitis, sinusitis and fracture can benefit from the therapy.

Dr. Ando is a certified LLLT practitioner and has attended numerous seminars and conventions. He will design a tailored treatment protocol specific to your symptoms.

Our office uses the state of the art laser machine from THOR Photomedicine Inc. THOR is the only company with FDA, CE, TGA, Health CANADA and NATO clearance to date.

Functional Neuro-Rehab
from Recovery to High Performance

Many people suffer from recurrent injury even though they went through a series of treatment from different disciplines. Dr. Ando has been frustrated to see many patients coming to our office explaining how long and how much money they had spent to manage their symptoms yet still faced a daily struggle with pain and weakness.

As a board-certified chiropractic neurologist, Dr. Ando combines physical therapy and neurology to help patients breakthrough the wall and achieve the optimum health. The rehab program is designed to train and activate muscles, nerves and primitive areas of brain allowing them to react and respond to surroundings, thus preventing future and potentially more serious injuries.

Dr. Ando’s main goal is to facilitate the communication between your nervous system and body. If your brain and body can talk to each other without any miscommunication, you will recover faster and perform at higher levels.

Following exercises are some of the many exercise that Dr. Ando utilize at our office:

  • Sports Vision Training
    • Eye movement Exercises (Optokinetic Stimulation)
    • Hand-Eye Coordination Exercises
    • Depth Perception
    • Peripheral Vision Exercises
    • Gaze Stability Exercises
  • Balance and Coordination Exercises
  • Neuromuscular Re-Education
  • Complex Movement Exercises

Dr. Ando helped many patients and athletes with variety of conditions.*

  • Chronic and recurring pain
  • Sports injury
  • Headache
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • ADD and ADHD
  • Tics and Tourette’s Syndrome
  • Vertigo and Dizziness
  • Movement Disorders
  • POTS (Dysautonomia)
  • Dystonia

Nutrition
A Science-Based, Natural Way to Become Healthy

We offer a science-based, natural way to become healthy again—Functional Medicine. Dr. Ando addresses the underlying causes of disease, rather than treating the symptoms. We believe the healthcare approach needs to be patient-centered, not disease-centered and therefore focus on the patient history as well as the specific interactions between genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. These findings allow for a tailored comprehensive nutritional treatment approach that allows each patient to achieve optimum body function.

In order for Dr. Ando to narrow down your area of weakness, we ask you to fill out the comprehensive questionnaires before the initial visit. If available, we recommend you submit the recent blood work results and all the other reports that are related to your conditions.

At your initial visit, Dr. Ando will ask you a series of questions, perform physical examination and may order additional tests, if necessary. These tests may include blood tests, stool or urine samples, breath test and saliva test. Before you come back for the second visit, doctor will analyze the collected data and design a specific treatment protocol just for you. You will be asked to alter you diet regimen, and doctor may offer dietary supplements to jump-start your body’s natural healing process.
